International Women’s Day
International Women's Day is one of our favourite days of the year! It's a chance to celebrate all the wonderful women of the world, in our lives and all of their amazing achievements.
What is International Women's Day?
From humble beginnings, International Women's Day, celebrated globally on the 8th of March, was first formally marked in March 1911 by Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland as a commemoration of the women's suffrage movement. In the years since, International Women's Day has spread globally recognising and celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.
Why is International Women's Day important?
International Women's Day not only celebrates the progress women have made but also marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality. This year the focus is on raising awareness against gender bias and collectively joining forces to #breakthebias. There’s still a lot of work to be done in the quest for gender equality but as a collective, what we do in our day-to-day can truly make a difference.
How you can help?

Grill'd is known for the burgers we love to eat and every burger you buy, you get a token that can be donated to your choice of 1 of 3 charities. The 'Local Matters' initiative was started by Grill’d to raise money for local charities for each of their stores. So far, they've raised over $6 million for local communities that needed it most including women's charities such as Diamond Women - a support service for women facing an unplanned pregnancy.
