Happy Moon Festival!
If you’re not familiar with Moon Festival - also known as Mid-Autumn Festival - it’s a popular celebration in South East Asian communities. It's particularly popular in China where it's the second-largest celebration after Chinese New Year. Coinciding with the fall harvest season in the Northern Hemisphere, the festival is celebrated in the middle of Autumn - a time of year when the moon is at its roundest and brightest. Although there are different customs across different cultures, families typically celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival by gathering together for a family feast (similar to Thanksgiving) and to share in a mooncake - a traditional Chinese pastry that is a symbol of reunion and happiness. To celebrate the Moon Festival which falls on 21 September this year, our World Square family of retailers have put together a drool-worthy selection of mooncakes and other delicious desserts for you to indulge in.
